Traveling Tool Caddy

I saw this great little chair caddy in my last issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine and decided to make one!
I bought some really cute fabrics and started measuring and sewing. This would be great for any kind of crafting get together. It will hold over 10 different tools, maybe even more depending on what you put in the pockets. So if you are short on space, this is a great way to maximize the space you do have!

In mine I have a cutter, 2 pr scissors, adhesive, 2 ink pads, 2 rulers, 5 markers, a sanding blocks, & 2 punches. This is great when you are short on space, so you will have more work room and all your tools are still right at your finger tips!

Plus, when empty it folds up very neatly, so it doesn't take up much space at all.

They can be used for any sort of craft! Sewing, Scrap booking, Stamping, & painting, just to name a few! They are currently available in my ETSY store!

Some online shopping

Dont you just love online shopping? Since I am still nursing this knee sitting in my recliner, I tend to do a bit of browsing, and tonight I made a couple of purchases! Cricut has some great new cartridges coming out, and I had to have this one!

 Scrapbookcorner.com only $39.99

Then I found this stamp set, another Item I just could not be without, so many ideas for this one!

Found at Amazon.com in stock! Many places were sold out!

And finally did you know that Basic Grey now sells fabric? Since I have been doing lots of sewing lately I am finding that I am obsessed with fabrics, as I am with paper, so how great is it that my favorite paper line also makes fabric! Here are some samples of the ones I bought.
I don't even know what I will make yet, but I can't wait to see them! Found at QuiltHome.com

I love shopping from the comfort of my home! And I am still following Dr's Orders!

Are you ready for this?

So do you remember the big TV? Well, here it is, in it's new home! It got moved dowstairs and I had the perfect size table to put it on! Here is my room reveal, we will begin with the down stairs since we are already there! Here is a before :
and the afters:

This also got moved downstairs, I made it months ago and never really had a good place for it, I love this table and so glad I now have a more centralized space for it! (See that magazine in my basket-Flea Market Style, Love it! Go buy one today so they can continue publishing:)

Now it is time to go Upstairs!

Don't panic, this is a BEFORE picture. I decided that the bear/moose theme was no longer for me, it just doesn't fit with my current style. So I painted this bookcase, and added some new & some old but re-vamped decor so it now looks like this

Can you even stand it!?! What a difference!
Remember where the old entertainment center was? Here is a refresher:
and here is the new look of this room

Another before

And After
these theater seats will get some pillows soon!
I LOVE the new look of this room! I feel like it finally works, we put on an addition 3 years ago, and I have never really liked the layout of this upstairs room, until now! Almost everything is from what I already had, I did have to buy some new small decor items, and the only new furniture items came from an Estate sale totaling $15, a little spray paint and some creativity go a long way!
Used my Cricut & Vinyl lettering for this!

Well that is it! (for now, still need to paint those kitchen cabinets!) I do have some small items that I still want to make, but just haven't had the time, not sure where it goes, besides all the sitting around I have to do with my bum knee, I can't take all the credit, Hubby did all the manual labor here, I had the vision and put the details together, but he really did all of the major work for me, have I told you how WONDERFUL he is?

coffee table turned bench

Another great Estate sale find! Not as is of course!
This is sneak peak # 2 into my living room re-do.
I knew immediately that this coffee table was the perfect size for a bench right below one of my windows.

The first step was to cover it with fiber fill and batting for a nice even cushion. I stretched it over the edge and stapled to the bottom. Then I selected one of my fabric remnants that was the perfect size, no trimming necessary, but there were some stains on it, I am guessing that was why it was a remnant. So my SIL suggested to cover the stains with ribbon. I sewed on 5 pieces, and it worked perfectly! Painted the legs brown with some of my favorite rustoleum paint and it is done!

What do you think??
I did get all my new pieces in the room tonight and it is coming together nicely. Tomorrow will be the day for the finishing touches! Stay tuned!

A little tease...

Isn't she a beauty?? $5 at an estate sale. I instantly saw potential, see that lamp shade?? It is Burlap!
The shade alone is worth the $5, but I saw vision in the entire lamp, so here is your sneak peak into my living room, it is taking much longer than I anticipated (darn knee!) This lamp is tying the entire room together, think color and texture!

These rosettes were made from scraps of something else in the room....
More sneak peaks tomorrow! :)

Dining room facelift

I get my inspiration for things at the strangest times. I was laying down after dinner the other night, hoping for a 10 minute snooze and was staring at our entertainment center. It is a very nice entertainment center, but ever since we had to get a new TV, it just didn't work. It looked too big, and it was made for one of those older big screens that sit right on the floor, so the new flat screen just wasn't working, for me anyway!

That was when I was suddenly no longer tired and got up to grab that tape measure. My husband reluctantly asked what I was doing, because he knew it would for sure involve him, I can not really do much yet, so he and our son get to do all the hard work!
This was the dining room before my big brain storm. It was fine, nothing fancy. Cute enough, right?? Well  picture that entertainment center on each side of the windows...
You now get this! But wait, I had more up my sleeve that includes fabric, you see I hate the windows, they are just ugly! You could see that if it were not for all the back lighting!I drew out my design and went to Wal-mart, they do have some really nice fabric. I had bought some last summer when I re-did my front porch, I knew I wanted to bring the same prints inside.  Lucky for me, they still had it in stock.

Sorry about the backlighting, but I can't complain about the warm sunshine, and I was too excited to wait to take pictures! I may take some this evening to see if I can get a better shot, this does not do my curtains justice! I bought the ivory sheers, only $4 for each panel, I only needed 2. Then I made the panels and the valance, they turned out exactly like I had pictured! I made a table runner to match, and then I re-covered my kitchen chairs.

Before Tan, plain, very simple. After is below, just enough color and print!
I love how the whole room looks like it goes together, there is even room for one of my little tweety birds!
I think now our dining room looks much more put together, the cabinet also has lights in the top. I can't even believe what a difference this made! I love the new look, and all I had to buy was fabric! Now keep in mine, we just took the entertainment center out of our living room, so what happened to that room? Stay tuned, there is more to come! Happy Saturday!
Here are the better photos!
