It's begining to look alot like Christmas

No we don't have any snow yet, which I am very happy about! But I DID put up a Christmas tree today! I know, I know, it isn't even Halloween. But I had very good reason, I needed it to take photos of my latest tree skirts!
I have been shooting them out on the porch and then 2 people asked about my rugs. Soooo I decided the tree must go up! It is decorated with owls, white lights, wood beads and burlap strips. It is festive but not overly "Chirstmasy"

This is my newest design, candy cane ruffle with snowmen and snowflakes!

 I love the little snowman!

I also decided to make a different version of my burlap and ruffles. Wider ruffle and in deep red! Love!

It does make such a difference for my shop! Have you started your holiday shopping yet?

Think pink!

October is breast cancer awareness month & the company I work for, Maurices has teamed up with the American Cancer Society and had the aerial lift bridge lit pink, for the first time ever!

Ruffles, Ruffles and more Ruffles!

I have seen similar skirts like this on pinterest and I have been wanting to make one for some time now. The tutorial I saw was great but they were all glued one, and I would rather sew it on than hot glue it.
So I got to work cutting my fabric into 3" wide strips and I used the ruffler foot for all the muslin.
The burlap will not ruffle, so I had to pin each pleat prior to sewing it. I made a base from burlap and then started attaching my ruffles! I started on the outside and worked my way in.
I love how it came out. So many ruffles!!! This will be my family skirt this year, but I made another one for my Etsy store as well!!

Have you had any pinspiration lately??

Loving the Owls!!

I love owls and this year I wanted to change up my tree skirts a bit! So I got to work on designing this guy! I even downloaded a free trial of Adobe Illustrator and taught myself how to use it, made this an SVG file and can now cut out the pieces with my cricut using my SCAL soft wear!
I was really surprised at how simple it was to do. So now I can make this guy any size I need without having to re-draw him!!
My first project was this tree skirt. I just love the little hat!
I made another skirt too, using different wool sweaters.

Then after the skirts, I just had to make some matching stockings!!

I was busy sewing all weekend! Getting ready for my "busy" season!! I can't wait!
Happy Monday All!

Cricut money saver!

All of my cricut mats have been very well used up. I have washed and re-adhesived them several times. I went to Michaels only to find the 12x24 mats. I needed one tonight so I bought them. They come 2 to a pack for $15.99. The 12x12 mats were $12.99 for a 2 pack. Once I got home I realized that all I had to do was cut them in half. Then I had 4 12x 12 mats for only 3 bucks more! Why have I never thought of that before! So simple and so cost effective!!

Out of Space!

Well I had full intentions of blogging tonight, however I am out of space for photos! I have no idea what to do, I really do not want to pay google's monthly fee for more room, anyone else have that problem and know what I could do?? Any ideas would be great! I had some great furniture DIY's that I did this week!!

Thanks!
