Bedroom Makeover

Have you ever stumbled upon a piece of furniture and just knew it was meant to be?
That happened to my husband and I right after Christmas. We have always had a nice bedroom, but everything was just put together, nothing matched, the bed frame was just unfinished wood (he never finished it) so when we found this king bed frame on clearance, we had to buy it. Which then caused a chain reaction of a matching dresser, end tables, bedding and room decor.... BOOM! Brand new room! Im just glad the existing paint color worked!
and before you say anything, the window behind the bed... its off center. It will become a piano window this summer!

I found great decor at Hobby Lobby!

This door walks right out to our patio and hot tub, its amazing! Even in the dead of winter!

I must say, I was excited to get a big girl bed! This is the first matching bedroom set I have ever had, what we had before was always good enough it work, but now our room is much more put together!
We also put netflix in here, I may never leave!

Transformation Tuesday-My workspace

I have posted about my craft room several times over the years. What can I say, I love my space! I also love to share and hope that it inspires even 1 person! I have an amazing room thanks to my hubby, he owns his own construction company and he really can build anything! So 1 1/2 yrs ago when I decided I needed him to remove a wall to join 2 rooms and make my room bigger, he didn't even argue! (yes he is a saint!) When we did that re model the room was primarily gray, and while I love neutral, after some time it was just OK.
Something else I realized was it just wasn't as efficient as it could be. I had items out all the time that I rarely used and things shoved n drawers and cabinets that I forgot I had and bought more of!
It was time for a change! I was going to add some color, clean, purge & re-organize! And then I did just that!
Here is what I new for sure;
I wanted red and aqua accents.
I wanted clear containers
I wanted more shelves for the walls to hold the clear containers
I needed more fabric storage (a lot was in a cubby)
I wanted more of what I love in this room

So I spent one Saturday afternoon shopping like it was my job.
Target, Hobby Lobby & TjMAXX received a lot of my money that day!

After cleaning, painting and a lot of re thinking my placement here is where I landed:

The walls are all the same gray color, but I used a wall stencil & some aqua paint to add the design!

I am in this room, well a LOT. So I needed it to be functional but pretty & uplifting!

As you can see, I have a lot of fabric. Now all of it is out right where I can see it.
Later this week I will post a how to on the mini foam core bolts I made.

Loving the 6ft long Ironing board!!!

This room is really 2 room turned into one. The other half is more for paper crafting and has another great work counter that my kids love to use!

Everything now has a place and it works the way I need it to!

If you have any questions on what I did, where I got specific items or organization in general, post them in the comments. I would be happy to help you out!
Thanks for looking!

Get organized for 2015!

There is something to the new year and an overwhelming feeling to clean, purge and re-organize! This year has been no exception for me! After the holidays, my craft room needs a serious deep cleaning! I try to stay organized as I go, but when things get crazy, that is the first thing to go for me!
I love my craft room, it is my happy place. When I walk in usually I feel inspired! I don't know if this year was different because I had been there so much or if my neutral room was just too neutral.
I have an amazing space but It was lacking some color!
I had been thinking about new curtains, and then last week I found this:

Have you picked up this amazing new magazine yet? After I read it cover to cover I was so inspired! So first I cleaned and organized a ton!
And then I shopped like it was my job!!
I found the most amazing pieces!
Target dollar spot, amazing finds!

Just a smudge of what I found at Hobby Lobby, now that store is dangerous!

And a sneak peak as to where I am going! I can tell you now that I walk into this room and immediately feel inspired and happy! Color adds so much to a space. More to come this week, just a few final touches left and I can do a complete room reveal!

Industrial boys bedroom

Nicholas room was in a need of a redo pretty badly in my option. He didn't seem to care! That's an 11 yr old boy for ya! He's not into sports or any characters so I found some things we boy liked on Pinterest and went from there. My only requirement was the brick wall my husband and I hand painted years ago had to stay!
We picked out paint, bedding and lots of great room decor from Hobby Lobby! They really have some amazing pieces!
He wanted blue and gray on the other walls. His bedding is from Target. He liked the blue and red and I was able to use the extra pieces to make some pillows and a cushion.
Next was the industrial shelving! We saw some great examples on Pinterest, so my hubby designed this set. We went to Home Depot and bought all the pipe!
I love how it turned out. I stained all the wood while hubby put the shelving together. I used Minwax gel stain in hickory. I also sanded down his bed and dresser and re finished them so all the wood matches.
My little helper was hard at work with the palm sander!
Here's the room all together!! It was so fun to do and now that's it's done, Nicholas loves it!

I wonder how long he'll keep it clean!
